Great satisfactions for the Carrera Ski Racing Team

23/03/2011
Padova, March 2011 – This year the athletes of the Carrera Ski Racing Team have collected medals and important results in various winter sports competitions, taking Carrera helmets and goggles to the highest steps of the most prestigious podia around the world.

The young and promising Carlo Janka, despite some physical problems and a delicate heart operation in February, earned the 3rd place in the Ski World Cup, after a series of excellent performances, as the 1st place in Kranjska Gora Giant and the 2nd place in Super G at Lake Louise and the Downhill of Wengen.

Austrian Michael Walchhofer obtained the 2nd place in the Downhill, a perfect end to a year of outstanding results, such as the amazing victories on the slopes of Lake Louise, Bormio e Kvitfjell.

The Carrera athletes have also given strong emotions and achieved excellent results at the World Championships in Garmisch: among the female athletes Elisabeth Görgl achieved the best results in her career, taking home two gold medals in Downhill and Super G, the fourth athlete in the history of skiing to succeed. Silver medal instead for Jens Byggmark in the Slalom and a great bronze in the Super G for Anja Pärson.

But the most incredible news arrive from Oslo, where the World Cup ski jumping took place: all three positions of the podium in the large hill competition went to the Carrera athletes, with Gregor Schlierenzauer, Thomas Morgenstern and Simon Ammann respectively on 1, 2 and 3rd step.
Thomas Morgenstern and Simon Ammann repeated their success in the World Cup general ranking, where they got 1st and 2nd place.
In particular, the Olympic champion Thomas Morgenstern was the real star of this season, adding to its already prestigious series of victories the 1st place in the World Cup in the normal hill competition.

Even in the Nordic Ski the Carrera athletes have gained honor, thanks to Felix Gottwald who got the bronze medal in World Cup Nordic combined in Oslo, and 3rd place in the World Cup general ranking.

CARRERA helmets and goggles, essential for athletes’ safety during their outstanding performances, accompanied the CARRERA SKI RACING TEAM in all their events.
The quality of CARRERA products - ski helmets, goggles and sunglasses - is guaranteed by the experience of the Safilo Group.
